Roberto Martinez now among frontrunners for Everton job – Sky Sports

Roberto Martinez is now among the frontrunners for the vacant Everton manager role, according to Sky Sports.

Rafa Benitez and Nuno Espirito Santo are the other two leading the race, but talks have been held with both, but no announcement is close.

It is reported that the Toffees won’t confirm their new manager until next week at the earliest at Goodison Park.

Sky Sports have named five other names still in contention for the job, as it appears as though the race is heating up.

Eddie Howe, Christophe Gaultier and Duncan Ferguson are other names mentioned, with anyone having the potential to take over.

The Everton board have reportedly been in crisis over the past week, with each individual member having a different choice.

Farhad Moshiri, Bill Kenwright and Marcel Brands are in the thick of the negotiations, but can’t make a unanimous decision.

Winner.

Martinez would be one of the most popular decisions, far from what Benitez would be at Goodison Park.

The reaction has been nothing short of toxic, and even we can call the banners left on the stadium disgraceful.

The now Belgium manager is currently at the EUROs, and talks would have to wait until midway through July when that comes to an end.

The Spaniard spent three years in Merseyside before leaving back in 2016, and there hasn’t been stability since and that needs to change.

Martinez coming back would be a huge statement, and with the likes of Thierry Henry on his backroom team, it could be an amazing group of staff with him.

This is a huge wish, but who knows? It could certainly happen.
