Chris Waddle thrilled by Jordan Pickford for England v Scotland

Everton star Jordan Pickford was in the thick of the action on Friday evening as England went to battle with Scotland.

Despite expecting a one-sided game, the Scots took it to the Three Lions at Wembley and almost took the lead through Stephen O’Donnell.

Pickford saved his country, not for the first time, by getting down low to his right to keep out the fierce volley.

Speaking on the BBC, Chris Waddle was one of those who were left thrilled by Pickford; labelling his efforts as “wonderful.”

The Everton stopper wasn’t best pleased though and was the only one trying to get some urgency into the Three Lions.

“What a save from Jordan Pickford,” Waddle said.

“Stephen O’Donnell will be disappointed, but that was a wonderful save.”

Wonderful.

Ally McCoist was also one of those watching on for ITV, and he was left pulling his hair out after his country couldn’t take the lead.

Step forward, Pickford.

In a tournament where we didn’t expect him to make too many saves early on, this was an uncharacteristic performance from our boys.

It is also a testament to Pickford, who has been ready for anything and continues to shine for his country.

Performances like this one leave us scratching our heads though, why can’t the keeper perform like this every single week for the Toffees?

It is all about confidence, and hopefully, a good tournament for Pickford will leave him in the best form of his career.
