Dion Dublin thrilled by Lucas Digne for France v Hungary

Dion Dublin was left thrilled by Everton defender Lucas Digne as he surprisingly started for France against Hungary.

The Toffees star was left on the bench for the EUROs opener, but Didier Deschamps gave him the nod today ahead of Lucas Hernandez.

Dublin was blown away as Digne’s crossing took centre-stage just as it does in the Premier League on a weekly basis.

Speaking on the BBC, Dublin singled out the Toffees flyer as he created chance after chance for the world champions.

“If you’re arriving late into the box, you know the defenders have to drop into the six-yard box,” he said.

“Lucas Digne has put that on the penalty spot and Mbappe’s timing was perfect but he just can’t guide it into the far corner but the cross and the header was excellent.”

Perfect.

There aren’t many forwards to be crossing too in world football than Kylian Mbappe, but the superstar somehow headed wide.

Digne wouldn’t have expected many minutes at the EUROs, but it shows great confidence from Deschamps that he handed him the chance.

It is deserved too, the left-back has been the standout performer at Goodison Park ever since arriving from Barcelona.

Jordan Pickford shined for England on Friday evening, and yet another one of our stars did the same this afternoon, despite the poor result.

It is yet another proud moment for us sat watching from home.
