Arsenal discussing signing Everton right-back Jonjoe Kenny
Arsenal are interested in bringing Everton right-back Jonjoe Kenny to North London this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
The former England youth international spent the second half of last season on loan at Celtic and does not appear to have a future at Goodison Park.
Arsenal are looking for a suitable right-back to replace Hector Bellerin with plans to sell the Spaniard on the cards, and Kenny is one of the targets being discussed at the Emirates Stadium [Daily Mail].
Time to sell Jonjoe?
The 24-year-old fell out of favour under Carlo Ancelotti, making just eight appearances last term – of which just four were starts.
The Italian manager preferred to play others out of position at right-back ahead of Kenny, with centre-back duo Ben Godfrey and Mason Holgate often getting the nod ahead of him.
He was shipped out to the Hoops in January, and while he made 14 appearances and impressed, a permanent move is not on the cards.
The Everton academy graduate spent the entirety of 2019-20 on loan with Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga.
Kenny has impressed away from Goodison Park twice, and no one knows exactly why he struggled under Ancelotti.
He has impressed Arsenal, with manager Mikel Arteta reckoning he could be a perfect competition for his current options.
Should Everton sell if the Gunners table a suitable bid or should he be given a chance to impress under the next boss?
It is a tough call, but it seems a change of scenery always gets the best out of Kenny.
He has struggled to fulfill his potential on Merseyside, and a permanent exit could be all he needs to get inspired to do so.
