O’Hara slams Moshiri for wanting Benitez at Everton, urges Blues to hire Howe
Jamie O’Hara has slammed Farhad Moshiri for trying to hire a “Hollywood” manager as the next Everton boss.
Rafa Benitez has been strongly linked with a move to Goodison Park despite the fact he’s seen as a legend on the red side of Stanley Park.
However, O’Hara hasn’t even taken that into account when saying he doesn’t feel Benitez is the right fit for the Toffees.

The ex-Tottenham midfielder instead says the Blues should go after Eddie Howe as their next manager.
“I think the main owner Moshiri wants the ‘Hollywood’ manager. He did that with Ancelotti and now he’s going, ‘alright, we’ll get Rafa Benitez’, who’s another big, massive name,” said O’Hara, as shown in a clip on the talkSPORT Twitter account.
When asked if Benitez is still a big name, O’Hara added: “Well, his name is. But over the last few years, you wouldn’t say he’s been at a top football club.
“He went out to the Chinese Super League and was Newcastle manager. But he’s obviously huge football clubs in Real Madrid, [Chelsea and Liverpool] so he’s been there and done it.

“I just don’t know if that’s what they need.
“Someone like Eddie Howe would be the right fit for them because I think he’s an Everton fan, he likes the club, he’s young, he’s got great philosophies.
“I think that’s more where Everton should be going but I think the owner wants this big ‘Hollywood’ guy who’s going to propel to Everton to some kind of stardom.”
No way
It has been almost a year since Howe left Bournemouth after overseeing their relegation from the Premier League despite spending huge sums of money on transfers.
Bournemouth are nowhere near a big club – especially in comparison with Everton – and Howe only did the job he did there in the Premier League due to the money he had to spend.
While he did oversee the improvement of a number of players, it’s hard to look past deals like the £19million swoop for Dominic Solanke and £15million for Jordon Ibe.
We just struggle to see Howe doing well in charge at Goodison.
As for ‘Hollywood’ names, we don’t see how Benitez is one and at the end of the day, managers become well known for a reason – it’s because they’re good managers.
Howe may support Everton [Liverpool Echo], but that isn’t a qualification for the job.
