Alan Myers: Everton deal to hire Rafa Benitez is still on
Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers has rubbished a report by talkSPORT that claimed Everton’s bid to Rafa Benitez is over.
On Monday morning, talkSPORT reported that the Blues’ attempts to hire the former Liverpool manager appeared to be over as Farhad Moshiri gave in to pressure from supporters who didn’t want him to be their next boss.
However, trusted Evertonian Myers has countered that claim, taking to his personal Twitter account to say: “Not true, I believe.”
Well, that lasted long
No sooner than talkSPORT’s report was published, Myers was cancelling it out.
After seeing what was reported by the radio station on Monday morning, a lot of Evertonians were delighted and were happy with Farhad Moshiri for seeing sense and considering what the fans want.
However, it seems that may not be the case – yet.

It’s all gone very quiet on the managerial front at Goodison Park with the Blues still not hiring anyone three weeks after Carlo Ancelotti’s shock exit.
Nuno Espirito Santo was meant to be close and then Benitez was too but still, no one has been hired.
We feel as though the hold-up with Rafa could be down to the outrage from sections of our support and that may be what has led to the talkSPORT update that broke on Monday.
Myers seems to have been told differently from his sources, but it doesn’t mean it’s not something that might not happen.
We’ll see how everything unfolds this week but this rollercoaster ride of a hunt for a new manager is getting tedious and we’re hoping that a conclusion is reached sooner rather than later.
In other Everton news, the Blues want to sign this “box-to-box” midfielder who’s impressed Thierry Henry.
