Everton urged to sign Matheus Nunes by former teammate
Goncalo Santos, a former teammate of Matheus Nunes, has urged Everton to sign the Brazilian amid reports that the Toffees are keen on securing his services this summer.
According to CM Journal, Everton are closing in on completing a £17 million deal for the 22-year-old.
The Toffees are understood to be looking for a midfielder this summer and have reportedly identified the Brazilian as the ideal option to bring to Goodison Park.

His former teammate Santos also believes that a move to Everton is the right move for him at this stage in his career.
He told The Liverpool Echo, “If he can join Everton now, it’s much better than in two or three years, because Everton will pay less money and Matheus will grow up there and improve his game. Maybe in a few seasons his market value will be three or four times bigger.
“If you compare him, he is similar to Doucoure; he is physical, he runs so much but Matheus has more quality with the ball.
“It’s unbelievable when he has the ball at his feet. Nobody can catch him; it’s impossible because he’s too fast.”
Thanks for the assistance
It’s always nice when former teammates urge clubs to move for someone they’re familiar with as the impact that has seems to be real.
They know the players on a personal level, and there’s a good chance that they could be on the phone with them explaining the merits of a move.

Looking at Nunes’ career from an objective lens, he’s achieved all he’s had to in Portugal, and Sporting are not the elite club where a player would want to retire.
At 22, Nunes surely has ambitions of playing in the big leagues for the biggest teams, and getting to Everton could be seen as the next step towards achieving that.
He would be a vital cog in our midfield. Santos likens him to Doucoure, but he seems like a sharper passer than the former Watford midfielder.
He’s tenacious, but also has an eye for the killer pass, and knows how to dictate terms from deep along with being capable of playing as a box-to-box midfielder.
He’ll also give the new manager the option of playing different systems.
