Everton are set to go ahead with the appointment of Rafa Benitez from the look of things, despite the fans insisting they do not want him.
According to The Mirror, the Goodison Park outfit held secret talks with the Spaniard at the weekend, with his representatives sorting out the finer details of the deal.
Majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri was said to be nervous about the fans backlash [Mirror], but Benitez’s appointment now looks set to be confirmed in the coming days, with Everton seemingly ready to go against the wishes of their supporters.

While Benitez has an impressive track record and experience, he has not been exactly in-demand of recent, with guiding Newcastle United to Premier League promotion and keeping them up his most recent creditable achievements.
Everton can surely do better and should be ready to pay compensation to land a quality manager the fans would not object to.
Benitez does not exactly play the most attractive style of football, and we could be having another Sam Allardyce on the touchline.
Going for Nuno Espirito Santo or Graham Potter would not irk the fans, and the duo has impressed with their styles and ability to deliver needed results of recent.
Everton should be taking steps forwards, but appointing the former Reds boss seems like a backwards step.
