Lucien Favre leans towards joining Crystal Palace over Everton

Lucien Favre is close to accepting the manager’s job at Crystal Palace despite being proposed to Everton, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reports that Favre, 63, has held positive talks with the South London club and is leaning towards joining them over the Toffees.

It is understood that Palace have previously offered the job to Nuno Espirito Santo only for him to then speak to Everton and Tottenham.

Everton

Another one to cross off the list

With each passing day, it’s looking more likely as though Everton will be hiring Rafa Benitez as their next manager.

Whether you like that or not, it’s about time Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright get together and ultimately get the deal done.

Players will be returning to pre-season training soon with some players across the continent already returning from the European Championships with certain countries bowing out.

Carlo Ancelotti left three weeks ago and the time it has taken to find a replacement is not really great, although you can appreciate the club is taking their time.

Unfortunately, taking their team means that they miss out on certain managers and Favre could have been a good hire.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager is reportedly great at working with younger players and with the academy we have at Everton, he could have been a good fit.

Palace also have quite a strong academy so the Swiss manager will probably do a good job there.

But it does look as though we’ll be getting Benitez instead.

In other Everton news, the Blues want to sign this “box-to-box” midfielder who’s impressed Thierry Henry.
