Jorge Mendes proposes Everton-AC Milan swap deal for James Rodriguez and Rafael Leao

Jorge Mendes has proposed a swap deal that would see James Rodriguez leave Everton for AC Milan and Rafael Leao come the other way, according to CalcioMercato.

The Italian news outlet claims Mendes had been in talks in Milan a few weeks ago and one of the ideas he came up with was to swap his two clients between the Premier League and Serie A.

It is understood Everton are interested in 22-year-old striker Leao and there has been contact made in recent months.

We have quite the problem when it comes to Rodriguez.

The Colombia international is by far one of the most talented attacking midfielders in the Premier League and we’re very lucky to have him on board at Goodison Park.

But we really don’t feel as though the ex-Real Madrid playmaker’s heart is in it at Everton and in all honesty, it wouldn’t be the end of the world if we saw the back of him.

Rodriguez angered Evertonians at the back end of last season when he missed matches due to fatigue, before sharing an image of himself on a luxury private jet.

He’s no doubt on a lot of money at Goodison but would leave a huge void if he was to leave.

And that void wouldn’t be filled with Leao, who is reportedly valued over £42.7million by Milan [CalcioMercato].

The ex-Lille player is primarily a centre-forward who has been known to play out wide from time to time.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison in the squad, the need for a new striker isn’t half as bad as the need for additions to the midfield.

In other Everton news, this huge change that Farhad Moshiri wants could be blocked due to the Premier League’s rules.
