Everton want to sign Matteo De Sciglio this summer – report

Everton want to sign Juventus defender Matteo De Sciglio this summer, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian outlet have reported on their website that the Toffees have arrived on the scene as they look to strengthen their defence.

It is suggested that it may only cost £4.3million for the right-back who has been away on loan at Lyon over the past year.

The Italian may not even be available.

Massimiliano Allegri is said to know the defender closely and could ask him to stay at Juventus as a trusted figure within his squad.

Carlo Ancelotti is another Italian figure who knows De Sciglio very well and has targeted him numerous times throughout his career, the last time was during his spell at Bayern Munich.

The Italian is now at Real Madrid, and it looks as though one of his long-wanted players could turn up at his former club.

Rafa?

With Rafa Benitez set to be announced at Goodison Park in the next few days, it will be interesting to see how much influence he has on transfers.

The Spaniard will surely have discussed transfer plans and targets in his talks with Farhad Moshiri, and names could have been mentioned.

De Sciglio would offer serious experience, but that is something that is already at the club in the shape of Seamus Coleman.

Surely, Toffees fans would want a younger player who can bomb up and down the pitch for fun, someone such as Denzel Dumfries.

The PSV Eindhoven star is currently shining at the EUROs with Holland and has been linked with a Merseyside switch.

Time will tell, and Benitez could make an early impression on fans with some impressive signings.
