Barry Fry claims Everton are keen on signing Ivan Toney
Everton are interested in signing Brentford forward Ivan Toney this summer, Peterborough United Director of Football Barry Fry has claimed.
The Toffees are looking to sign a striker this summer and the Englishman could be one that the club are looking at.
Fry has mentioned that Chelsea are also keeping tabs on the player and could lure him to Stamford Bridge with their financial muscle.

He told This Is Futbol, “I still think people like Everton and even Chelsea (want him). I know Chelsea are looking at the top range of centre-forwards but I know they’ve watched him and like him and if they don’t get A, B, and C, who knows?”
“Then I expect Ivan to go for £40m, £45m, £50m, but now he’s got them in the Premier League, only the top clubs could afford him.”
Definitely a good buy
Toney has proven just what a mistake Newcastle made when they let go of him. He was a player who showed promise even at St. James’ Park, but the board made a hasty decision that they’re likely to be regretting.
His move to Peterborough is what saw him set League One alight – scoring 16 goals in his first campaign and 24 in the year after.
That earned him his move to Brentford where he took his game to the next level under Thomas Frank and helped guide the Bees into the Premier League for the first time in the club’s history.
He scored 31 goals and provided 10 assists in the Championship and also bagged a goal in the play-off final against Swansea.
Despite all the transfer interest, Brentford remain confident of keeping hold of the player.
His stock is unsurprisingly on the high, and if we’re set to sign him then we’re going to have to be prepared for the transfer to take a huge chunk from our budget.
Given how we need to strengthen in other departments first, it looks highly unlikely that we’ll be going ahead with this one.
