De Miguel and Gomez to join Benitez coaching staff at Everton
Rafa Benitez is not the only former Liverpool man set to arrive at Everton with two of his old acquaintances also joining, according to Times journalist Paul Joyce.
Writing on The Times website, Joyce reports that Paco de Miguel and Antonio Gomez will join his backroom staff once he’s hired by the Blues.
Both worked with Benitez at Liverpool. De Miguel is a fitness coach who’s work with Benitez at most of his clubs and Gomez served as his assistant at Anfield, Real Madrid, Newcastle and Dalian.

What about Big Dunc?
It remains to be seen what is going to happen to Duncan Ferguson, a man who was a largely popular choice for the fans to succeed Carlo Ancelotti in charge.
Daily Mail journalist Dominic King reported on Friday that Benitez intends to hold talks with Ferguson about being his assistant but Gomez’s move to Goodison seems to throw a spanner in the works.
Gomez has been almost everywhere with Benitez to serve as his assistant but it’s not unheard of for a manager to have two assistants.
It’s also not been reported what role Gomez would have at Goodison – we’re just assuming he’d be the assistant based on his track record with Benitez.
Benitez needs to be allowed to assemble his own backroom staff but he also needs to appreciate the link the fans have with Ferguson.
The Spaniard’s imminent arrival at Goodison isn’t going down that well on social media so one thing he can do to win over some fans is keeping Big Dunc on board and handing him a key role in the coaching staff.
