Everton are set to appoint Rafa Benitez as their next manager and The Athletic have claimed the confirmation could arrive before the end of the week barring any unforeseen late hitches.

While that has not happened yet, it does not appear that any hitches are on the cards.

Everton are ready to go ahead with the appointment against the wishes of their fans, and it seems the supporters are ready to accept the decision despite not being happy with it.

We asked our esteemed panel of Everton Super Fans over on Facebook whether they would support Benitez at Goodison Park.

One reckoned the former Liverpool boss is being brought in to stabilise things ahead of the move to the new stadium, and another felt Alisher Usmanov – Farhad Moshiri’s business partner – wants a top manager in before deciding to invest in the club.

Here’s what they said.

Toffees owner Moshiri wants to get value for his money and is not ready to be emotional about it.

The businessman has continuously spent on the squad since becoming majority shareholder, but getting the side into the top-six has proven abortive.

Ronald Koeman, Sam Allardyce, Marco Silva and Carlo Ancelotti have all failed to deliver, and while we do not believe that Benitez is the saviour, we reckon giving him the job could prove to be a gamble worth it in the end.

We would have preferred another manager, but the fans do not have a say in such a decision as Moshiri is about to show.

Benitez brings much-needed experience when it comes to delivering the needed results, and we can only hope everything goes well.

While an official announcement is yet to be made, it seems it is just a matter of formality before that happens, and we have no choice but to continue supporting the team going forward.
