Jim White suggests Everton move for Rafa Benitez will be successful, Stuart Pearce reacts
Everton fans should be delighted with the impending appointment of Rafa Benitez as manager, according to West Ham first-team coach Stuart Pearce.
The 78-capped England international, currently on the books as a coach at the east London club under former Blues boss David Moyes, responded to a question by talkSPORT host Jim White, who suggested a deal to bring Benitez to Goodison Park is on the verge of completion.
“I’ve got a feeling this is now going to come through and we will hear that Benitez has got it,” he told talkSPORT on Monday [28/06/21].

“Stuart, should Everton fans be upset by this?”
“I think whatever club he’s been at he’s been a fantastic servant,” Pearce replied.
“I always got on really well with him on the circuit, and I think it’s a really good appointment. He ticks so many boxes as a manager, it’s a no-brainer for me to be honest.”

Well-respected
There’s certainly no doubting Benitez from prominent figures within the Premier League and wider football circuit.
A string of ex-footballers and pundits have been queuing up to defend the Spaniard’s honour as Everton receive backlash from fans over the appointment of the ex-Liverpool manager.
Pearce is the latest to have his say, and he’s someone that will be well in the know after a series of meetings with and against him over the years.
As Pearce suggested on talkSPORT, Benitez comes across very well, and is a welcoming figure in football.
That might be true, but he also calls the appointment a ‘no-brainer’. That’s excessive in the extreme.
How can the appointment of someone so disliked among Blues supporters be described as a ‘no-brainer’? Clearly, there has been an element of thought among the Everton hierarchy, otherwise a deal would already have been confirmed.
