Sky Sports: Rafa Benitez not likely to be announced today

Everton have continued their talks with Rafa Benitez over the weekend, according to Sky Sports.

Vinny O’Connor was outside the club training ground this afternoon, and shared that the finer details of the contract were discussed and finalised.

It is suggested that the Spaniard won’t be announced today, but could be confirmed as early as tomorrow by the Toffees.

Speaking live on Sky Sports this afternoon, O’Connor shared the update which left us counting down the minutes and hours.

“We understand it is edging closer,” he said.

“In terms of anything official from Everton, there’s been absolutely no comment whatsoever once again.

“Talks continued over the weekend, the finer details of that contract being discussed and finalised, and the expectation that Rafa Benitez could be named the new Everton boss this week, even as early as tomorrow.”

Tensions rising.

The sooner this deal is announced, the sooner we can expect some answers from the likes of Farhad Moshiri.

Disgraceful banners continue to be placed around Merseyside, with the latest near Benitez’ home.

We are interested to know if Moshiri and the board have spoke to the Spaniard regarding these matters, and given him their full support.

Surely, Benitez will have had some worries given the safety of his family after those awful banners last night, and hopefully, the police take action, as well as the club handing out bans.

With the news expected as early as tomorrow, it appears as though this long-winded manager hunt will finally be coming to an end.

There is still time for something to collapse though, so we won’t relax until it is officially confirmed by the club.
