Everton want to take Philippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona – report
Everton have asked Barcelona if they can take transfer-listed Philippe Coutinho on loan next season, according to Fichajes.
The Toffees have just appointed Rafael Benitez as their new boss and the Spaniard has wasted no time in identifying transfer targets by telling the Blues’ board to make a move for ex-Liverpool player Coutinho.
Fichajes claim that Everton are ‘interested’ in taking Coutinho on loan, and Benitez has ‘asked’ the club to bring the 29-year-old back to Merseyside.

However, they also state that Everton might try and sign Coutinho ‘if his price does not exceed’ the money they could get for James Rodriguez.
Could Everton really sign Coutinho?
Since leaving Anfield for a move to Spain, Coutinho has massively struggled, and in the 2020/21 campaign, he only made 12 league appearances.
However, while Coutinho was with Liverpool, he was a fantastic player.
At the time, he was probably worth every bit of the £142m that Barcelona agreed to pay the Reds to sign him.

His stock has fallen since, but a move to Goodison Park could really be the move that he needs to kickstart his career. He also scored lots of goals and provided a good number of assists for Liverpool, so he could be the perfect addition for the Toffees and Benitez.
Benitez favours a 4-2-3-1 formation, and Coutinho could be the ideal candidate to fill the number ten role and provide the ammunition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin [The Athletic].
It would be a fascinating move if Everton were to get Coutinho, but it could happen, and hopefully, it does.
