Jim White: Everton fans take it too far if they boycott Goodison

Everton fans are “taking it too far” if they refuse to buy a new season ticket solely due to Rafa Benitez’s appointment, according to Jim White.

On Thursday, talkSPORT had a caller who said he’s not renewing after the former Liverpool manager was officially unveiled as Carlo Ancelotti’s successor at Goodison Park.

Ex-Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan hit out at that idea.

“To boycott your own club is to cut off your nose to spite your face. I think that’s a bit silly,” said Jordan, as shown in a clip on the talkSPORT YouTube account.

White then replied: “It’s taking it too far.”

You support the club – not one man

What it is with some Evertonians?

Would you really rather sit at home and watch the Blues play than go to the Grand Old Lady? Remember, we’ve been shut out of stadiums for like a year and a half other than the odd few matches.

If you tear up your season ticket or refuse to renew or take a stand against Benitez’s hire by not attending games then you’re only discrediting yourself.

Goodison will be full, no matter what.

Goodison will be full, no matter who is in charge.

Goodison will not be our home for very long. Take in every moment you have there.

Don’t be an idiot – support your football club.

Don’t become blinded by your hatred of Liverpool.

If you don’t rate Rafa as a manager then fair enough but don’t judge him by an insignificant comment he made in the heat of the moment over a decade ago.

You’re an Evertonian. You support Everton through thick and thin.
