Chris Sutton waxes lyrical of Jordan Pickford, hands him a 9/10 rating
Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has been at the top of his game at Euro 2020 and has been duly praised by Chris Sutton.
The England number one has kept four clean sheets in the tournament and remains the only keeper still to concede a goal.
His performances have been pivotal in guiding the Three Lions to the quarter-finals and within three wins of the trophy.

Writing about the form guide in his Daily Mail column, Sutton gave Pickford an impressive 9/10 rating.
He wrote, “The only goalkeeper with four clean sheets at this tournament.
“He stopped Germany from scoring and deserves the praise he is getting.”
Silencing the doubters
Pickford has been one of Everton’s most criticised players in recent years due to the fact that he’s made some errors in goal for us which has cost us games.
That said, goalkeeping errors are highlighted more than any and that’s something you sign up for while taking that role up.

However, for England, he’s been immaculate in goal and has been Gareth Southgate’s undisputed number one.
Prior to the EUROs, there were suggestions as to whether Dean Henderson merited a starting berth over Pickford, but Southgate stuck with the keeper he believed was best suited to his system and it’s worked out perfectly for him.
Pickford’s not only been an immaculate shot stopper but he’s also been tidy with the ball at his feet and has helped kick-start counter-attacks on numerous occasions at the EUROs.
We’re hoping that he continues playing at this top level for us next season and we will keep a lot more clean sheets, resulting in more points on the board.
Sergio Romero coming in as his backup would be ideal as we would have an extremely strong and capable goalkeeping unit.
