Fabrizio Romano: Rafa Benitez set to take final decision over Everton future of Moise Kean

PSG are waiting for the final decision of Rafa Benitez and Everton after tabling a loan bid for Moise Kean, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist made the claim on his personal Twitter profile in the early hours of Tuesday, July 6.

Romano wrote: “PSG have been working for months to sign Moise Kean on loan – they’re waiting for Benitez and Everton final decision.”

Inevitable?

It’s hard to see a scenario where Kean stays at the club – all the noises have been that he wants out, while the club are surely ready to admit defeat over his failed signing in 2019.

The Italian striker arrived for big-money from Serie A giants Juventus but he failed to make a significant impact, scoring just four times in 37 appearances before joining PSG on loan in October 2020.

The 21-year-old made a good impression in the French capital, scoring 17 goals in 41 appearances alongside world-class talents like Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

That form, allied to his tender years, appeared to open the door of a possible Blues return after gaining some confidence elsewhere.

Everton

However, the importance of Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Everton last season has surely signalled the end of Kean’s Goodison Park career.

It’s hard to imagine where Kean would fit in with the England international playing such a prominent role, especially now that Benitez has taken charge at the club following the exit of Kean’s countryman Carlo Ancelotti.

Benitez has tended to favour a one-man attack and the absence of European football once again next season would see Kean struggle to accrue many minutes.

Therefore it seems highly likely he will leave, but we thought it would be for good this summer, not on another loan deal.

It’s pretty cheeky of the moneybags outfit PSG to try and strike up another temporary agreement, but if that is all that is on the table, we must ensure there is a permanent obligation for a significant fee in the summer of 2022.
