Fabrizio Romano: Everton and Rafa Benitez convinced Richarlison will stay amid Real Madrid links

Richarlison is likely to stay at Everton for “at least one more season” despite speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The renowned transfer guru was speaking on Wednesday night [07/07/21] via his ‘FabrizioRomano’ Twitch channel, where he responded to a number of transfer questions from dedicated followers and subscribers.

After being asked for information on Blues forward Richarlison, he said: ”There’s nothing between Real Madrid and Richarlison. Everton and Rafa Benitez are convinced the Brazilian will stay at the club for at least one more season.”

Relief

The start of the Benitez era is expected to be tumultuous enough without countenancing the thought of selling one of our most important players.

Richarlison was a streaky player in the 2020/21 campaign, often flattering to deceive after blistering spells of form, but he was still easily one of our better performers across the season, and had to carry the attacking burden in the absences of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Aside from those two, and possibly James Rodriguez who could be out the exit door himself this summer, there is a real lack of goals and creativity in the forward areas, and we can’t afford to lose our second biggest goal threat.

At least one winger and another striker should be signed this summer, and that’s without letting any of our existing first-team options leave.

There may come a time where the 24-year-old looks to leave if we continue to miss out on the European spots, but it is vital that we hold onto him for at least one more season while we head into the unknown with Benitez.

Richarlison’s ability and versatility across the frontline will be crucial under the Spaniard, so it is reassuring to hear the manager and the club are counting on him for the upcoming season.

In other Everton news, a BBC pundit has suggested that these Blues stars will be unexpectedly shunned by Rafa Benitez.
