Moise Kean set to return to Everton training on Saturday after self-isolating

Moise Kean is set to return to Everton training on Saturday after missing the start of pre-season because he was self-isolating, according to The Athletic.

The 21-year-old striker spent the majority of the 2020/21 campaign on loan at French giants PSG, moving to the capital club in October after making two Premier League appearances for the Blues at the start of the season.

Speculation has been swirling over his future in recent weeks and months, with many outlets carrying reports over a return back to PSG this summer.

The Blues began pre-season training this week and his absences at Finch Farm led to renewed rumours that he was on the verge of an imminent exit.

However, The Athletic’s Patrick Boyland reported on Thursday [08/07/21] that Kean has been training individually and self-isolating at home after returning from a trip abroad, and that Everton are not currently in talks with any club over his potential sale.

Indeed, Saturday [July 10] has been slated as his expected return to Finch Farm, barring any last-minute complications.

Bidding to impress?

It looks like any deal to take Kean to PSG, or indeed anywhere else, has gone cold for the moment.

Thus, any Everton exit looks a fair way off for the Italy forward at the moment.

Therefore, could he still be looking to resurrect his Blues career?

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is still away on international duty with England, and Wednesday night’s win over Denmark means their campaign will not conclude until Sunday.

The club’s top-scorer last season is unlikely to return to training until the end of the month, and with Richarlison not expected back until mid-August after his own international commitments with Brazil, the Blues are seriously lacking in the forward department.

New manager Rafa Benitez will likely turn to some emerging talents in the Under 23s and Under 18s but Kean will surely be given a prominent role at the start of pre-season.

It still appears unlikely that Kean will stay beyond the end of the summer, but if he catches the eye of Benitez it’s not out of the discussion that the Spaniard may look to convince him his future is at Goodison Park, not Parc des Princes.

In other Everton news, a BBC pundit has suggested that these Blues stars will be unexpectedly shunned by Rafa Benitez.
