James Rodriguez drops hint on July plans in video message to Everton supporters
James Rodriguez may have dropped a heavy hint on his future after the Everton midfielder sent a message to fans on Twitter.
Everton are set to take part in the Florida Cup in July, with the Blues set to jet out to America and play Colombian outfit Millonarios on July 25 before playing either Arsenal or Inter Milan in the final or third-place play-off.
Florida Cup sent a happy birthday message to Rodriguez on their Twitter account on Monday [12/07/21], and they included a message from the 30-year-old. He said: “Hi Evertonian fans. We will see each other in Florida. Bye.”
Set to stay?
Well, this does not mean that the Colombian is definitely going to be staying at Goodison Park beyond the end of the summer transfer window, but the video does strongly suggest that he will at least be an Everton player going into August.
Of course, this may just be a promotional ploy to ensure as many fans as possible are in attendance at the Floriday fixtures, with Rodriguez arguably the biggest name player in the squad.
That’s particularly pertinent given that the Blues will be facing a club from his homeland, Millonarios.
He will be a star attraction and thus even if he is sold this summer it makes financial and commercial sense to delay any exit until after the pre-season trip to the States.

Super agent Jorge Mendes was reported to be lining up an £8.6million proposal to send his client to AC Milan last month [Tuttosport].
There have been various other reports suggesting Rodriguez’s time at Everton was heading to an end with a strained previous relationship with new Blues boss Rafa Benitez, but it looks like no deal is imminent at the moment.
In other Everton news, Fabrizio Romano claims the Blues are in active exit talks over this big-name.
