Kevin Campbell: Jean-Phillipe Gbamin set for make or break Everton season
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has insisted that Jean-Phillipe Gbamin is set for a make or break season at Everton under Rafa Benitez.
The Ivorian has been suffering from long-term injuries since arriving at Goodison Park but looks set to be fully fit for the Premier League next month.
Campbell admitted that Gbamin has had “awful” luck, but believes that he could be a machine in the middle of the park for the Toffees.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “I would say so.
“He’s had a hell of a terrible run, it’s been awful. Here he is now though, fit and ready to train.
“Maybe with a new manager, he gets a little break. We’ve not seen him kick a ball in how long? But he has been a machine in midfield, fingers crossed he can get his game together.”

Rotten.
Gbamin has never had the chance to prove himself at Goodison Park, and this could be the opportunity he has been waiting for.
Carlo Ancelotti wasn’t in a position to consistently start the Ivorian, so we can’t hand the blame to anyone for these decisions.
Hopefully, with a full pre-season under his belt under Benitez, we can finally start to see the best of the former Mainz man.
There aren’t millions of options in midfield right now, and there is a position up for grabs alongside Allan, who was superb last season.
Benitez has a decision to make over the next month, and it is up to the likes of Gbamin to make it for him.
