Sporting Lisbon awaiting approval of Rafa Benitez for Matheus Nunes deal
Everton manager Rafa Benitez is yet to approve a move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes, according to Correio da Manha.
The Portuguese club wants to sign Famalicao midfielder Manuel Ugarte but are expected to sell Nunes to the Toffees before completing a deal.
The report claims that Benitez ‘has not yet given the final endorsement to the purchase of the 22-year-old Brazilian, with Sporting eagerly waiting.

Deal still on the cards?
Everton had been linked with Nunes before the appointment of the Spaniard, with wide reports claiming that a deal has already been agreed between both clubs.
However, not much has been heard about it since Benitez moved to Goodison Park, and it appears that he is yet to greenlight the deal.
We really do not know whether he would, and everyone has to wait for his final say from the look of things.
Pre-season only started a week ago, and it is only right for the new Toffees boss to be keen to run the rule over the players available before making his transfer decisions.
Nunes finished last season with three goals and two assists in 31 league games, and that return would not have particularly convinced Rafa at first.

He would have loved to watch the Brazilian in action before making an informed decision, but that is not possible at the moment.
Nunes looks like a player ready for the Premier League, and while we believe he has what it takes to succeed as an Everton player, a move is far from being concluded.
It would not come as a surprise if the manager vetoes a deal, and it seems everyone would need to wait out this one.
