Everton set to profit after Nikola Vlasic closes in on £21.4m move to AC Milan

Everton are in line to receive a significant fee as former Blues winger Nikola Vlasic closes in on a big move to AC Milan.

According to Russian football expert Artur Petrosyan on his verified Twitter profile, the CSKA Moscow star is set for a £21.4million transfer to the Italian giants.

Petrosyan wrote: “Nikola Vlasic is close to joining Milan. Transfer fee around €25m [£21.4million] plus bonuses. The 23-year-old Croat joined CSKA from Everton in 2018 on loan, signed permanently in 2019 for €15m, scored 28 goals (from midfield) since and became one of the best players to ever play in Russia.”

Vlasic joined Everton from Hadjuk Split in 2018, but he made just 19 appearances before leaving the club for Russia.

However, the Liverpool Echo reported in 2019 that “it is understood there is a sell-on agreement included in the transfer that will activate upon Vlasic’s next move.

Potential unlocked

There have been suggestions that Vlasic was never given a fair crack of the whip at Everton during his brief spell at the club.

He only scored twice and was barely handed starting opportunities before he was shipped out on loan to CSKA Moscow in August 2018.

Vlasic scored eight times in 31 appearances during his loan period, and there were hopes that it would help to reignite his Blues career.

However, he was swiftly sold to the Russian giants, where he has since shone.

Vlasic’s agent recently told Russian outlet Soccer that he wouldn’t rule out a return to Goodison Park, but it looks like he’s headed for Italy.

At least the club are set to profit though, and while the actual sell-on clause has not been detailed in full, the nature of the expected multi-million transfer could land the Blues a healthy fee.
