Moise Kean pictured in Everton pre-season training

Everton attacker Moise Kean finally joined pre-season training after being absent from previous sessions.

The reason for his absence was that he worked individually at home after returning from overseas [Patrick Boyland] and has now been spotted training with the first-team squad. [Everton official Twitter handle]

The Italian has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park with Paris St. Germain his preferred destination. As things stand, he remains an Everton player.

Can’t do a loan deal

Discussing the Kean situation on his podcast Here We Go, Fabrizio Romano said, “It’s not an easy situation. He wants to go to Paris St. Germain. PSG want him on loan with [an option to buy], but Rafael Benitez is absolutely against this solution.

“He wants to keep the player or sell the player, not [a] loan with [option to buy].

“So that’s why the situation with Kean is not easy at the moment, the player will push to try and join Paris Saint-Germain, but it’s up to the two clubs to complete the agreement.”

It’s good to see Benitez and the club putting their feet down and not allowing the player to leave on loan.

He spent last season on loan at Parc des Princes and PSG are conveniently wanting to take him on a temporary basis next season rather than paying his transfer fee.

Kean could be a different player under Benitez so even if the move to France falls through, we could have a decent attacker on our hands who can share the goal-scoring responsibilities.

He’s got the ability to play in a plethora of attacking roles and it will be interesting to see how Benitez uses the Italian in the upcoming pre-season friendlies.

Whatever the outcome of this Kean saga, it’s likely to benefit Benitez and the club so we can’t really complain and just hope we get quality players in for next season.
