Everton attacker Bernard has opened talks with the club over an exit this summer, according to The Liverpool Echo.

There has been an interest in his services from three different countries and the 28-year-old could be on his way out in a few weeks.

The Toffees are exploring the possibilities of entering negotiations with a side in the United Arab Emirates while there’s reported interest from clubs in Russia as well as Greece.

Bernard joined as a free agent and came with the reputation of being a direct runner who could deliver goals and assists on a consistent basis.

However, it hasn’t panned out the way many thought it would, and there now is a huge possibility of him leaving this summer.

Everton fans took to Facebook to discuss the news, and while most appeared to be sympathetic to the player, they believe it’s in the club’s best interests to offload him this summer.

Here’s what they said:

Valid points

Bernard wasn’t quite used in his ideal position as the managers he worked under opted to play three-man midfield systems without designated number 10s.

The Brazilian is a creative force who relies on movement around him which helps him knit the play and set up chances from tight situations.

However, being deployed as a winger took away from his strengths and he was asked to perform duties he wasn’t acquainted to do.

At times it looked like he was getting used to role, but he failed to maintain consistency and selling him could prove to be the best option this summer.
