Report: Bernard set for Everton exit amid interest on two continents

Everton attacker Bernard appears set for the exit door amid interest in his services from clubs on two continents, according to The Liverpool Echo.

The 28-year-old has been subject to transfer interest from clubs on two different continents and has begun talks over leaving the Toffees for good this summer.

The club are looking into a deal with a side in the United Arab Emirates while the Brazilian has also caught the eyes of clubs in Russia and Greece.

Having moved to Merseyside on a free in 2018, he has been one of the highest earners at the club, and it’s now looking like his time with the Toffees is nearing its end.

Good move

The 28-year-old was a talented player who showcased his brilliance every now and then, but never on a consistent basis that won over any manager.

He was even praised by former captain Leighton Baines for his ability to make things happen.

He told the Echo, “Bernard is definitely someone who can win us matches. He just has amazing qualities. He has great footballing ability and a high football IQ.”

However, things haven’t quite panned out for the Brazilian since those comments by Baines, and it now seems that he has run out of time at Goodison Park with Rafa Benitez not understood to be keen on retaining the player’s services.

Last season, Bernard was handed just two Premier League starts and a total of only 448 minutes on the field of play.

We’ve lacked quality backup options out wide and it is important that we use this window to recruit wisely and add to our depth in that area.

Benitez is a manager who’s punched above his weight in the past and could help take this club to the next level with the right backing in the transfer market.
