Everton are one of the sides leading the chase for Joaquin Correa
Everton are one of the main contenders to sign Lazio star Joaquin Correa, according to a report from Calciomercato.
They claim that the Toffees’ “pressure is strong” though they face tough competition from Inter Milan, while PSG and Tottenham Hotspur are also mentioned. The report also claims that the Serie A side want 35million Euros [£30million] for the Argentine.
Correa made 26 league appearances for Lazio last season and scored eight goals and provided three assists, so it is easy to see why the Toffees want to sign him [WhoScored].
Will Everton sign Correa?
If this report is to be believed, it seems as if it is a straight shootout between the Toffees and Inter for the 26-year-old.
The Argentine is naturally an attacking midfielder, so with James Rodriguez free to leave Goodison Park, he could be the ideal addition to Rafael Benitez’s side, should they complete a move for him [EuroSport].
In terms of statistics, he would have been the Toffees’ second-top league goalscorer last season and would have been their joint fourth-top assist provider. So it is clear that he could be an excellent signing for Everton [WhoScored].
He has also been described as a “menace” by Breaking The Lines , so he has impressed many people in the world of football as well.
£30million is quite a lot of money, but if Everton want a marque signing, this guy could be the man, and they should be doing everything in their power to sign him in this transfer window.
Yes, Inter will pose a challenge, but with Benitez at the helm and with the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin in their squad, you would think that Correa could be persuaded to move to Goodison Park.
