Spanish journalist: Everton star James Rodriguez must issue apology after national team fallout

Everton ace James Rodriguez must issue a public apology to Colombia head coach Reinaldo Rueda, according to a Marca journalist.

The Toffees attacker was left out of the recent qualifying matches against Qatar, Peru, Argentina and also the Copa America, but he believes that was down to him not being in the best physical shape.

He was in contention to play the Copa America, and not picking him was a controversial decision that Rueda took going into the tournament.

Marca journalist Nicolas Parra believes that it was down to his attitude and he’s unlikely to be recalled until he mends bridges with Rueda.

He wrote, “But what is he thinking? If you are going to want to return to the national team, the first thing, in any case, is that James Rodriguez apologises.

“It is not enough that it is a call to Rueda, but it has to be a public apology for his attitude.”

Apology on cards?

Rodriguez is known to be a temperamental player and also one with a huge ego, so we’re uncertain whether he goes on to make a public apology to the football association and his head coach.

It’s pretty clear that Rueda doesn’t see him as part of his plans for the future, so if he wants to play again for his country, it only makes sense that sorts out the issue with his head coach.

Often, when players have fallings out with their national teams, it tends to affect their performances at the club level.

That’s the last thing we want, as even when things were going well, Rodriguez was still a tad inconsistent and appeared unwilling to go the extra mile.

When he’s on song, he’s our best player on the pitch and has also been labelled ‘magnificent’ by former Real Madrid present Ramon Calderon. [Antena 2]

It will be interesting to see how things transpire, but currently, Rodriguez hasn’t come out of this incident looking too good.
