Thierry Small set to leave Everton for English club this summer
Everton left-back Thierry Small is set to leave the club this summer but he will remain in England, according to The Secret Scout.
The online media platform provides insight and news into some of the most prodigious talents in football including breaking news around transfers [SecretScout].
They are followed by the likes of David Ornstein [The Athletic], Paul Joyce [The Times] on their Twitter account, which is where they responded to a question on 16-year-old left-back Small on Tuesday morning [27/07/21].
After being asked whether the teenager was still on Bayern Munich’s radar, they wrote: “Source says he will stay in England.”
They were then asked whether there was any chance that the Solihull-born sensation would stay at Everton beyond the end of this transfer window.
The Secret Scout replied: “I heard he was off last week. But you never know. Depends if representatives get the deal they want for him.”
Writing on the wall
Small is a player that has been earmarked as a future star by the Blues, and he etched himself into the history books when he became the club’s youngest player during the FA Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday on January 24 earlier this year.
However, there have been persistent reports linking him with a move away this summer, and The Athletic claimed on July 13 that the teenager was trying to engineer an exit, and hadn’t turned up to training.
It is understood that Small doesn’t feel that he has a chance of breaking into the Blues side with Lucas Digne and Niels Nkounkou currently ahead of him in the pecking order.
A whole host of elite-level European clubs have been linked with a move for Small, but it looks like German giants Bayern Munich can be crossed off that list, with the full-back set to stay in England.
Perhaps there is still a chance of persuading him to stay, but the signs are not positive.
In other Everton news, the Blues are in work permit talks over a deal for this Dutch defender who was seen at Finch Farm recently.
