James Rodriguez discusses Everton future, takes thinly-veiled dig at Benitez
James Rodriguez has cast huge doubts about his Everton future, suggesting he would like to be at a club where he feels wanted.
The Colombian attacker took to Twitch to address speculation surrounding where he’s likely to be next season.
Recently, on El Chiringuito TV in Spain, their journalist Edu Aguirre stated that Rafa Benitez had told the player in no uncertain terms that he doesn’t see him in his plans at Everton for next season. [Mirando la Hidrova]
Rodriguez, as transcribed by The Liverpool Echo, said, “I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
“I don’t know, I don’t know where I’m going to play. You know that in football and in life you don’t know anything but all I know is that I’ve been training hard, preparing well, training for myself and that’s it.
“It’s complicated. Wherever I’m wanted. Someone has to be at a place they’re wanted.”
Big blow for Rafa
By his comments, it seems pretty clear that he does not feel he’s wanted at the club and this is likely to end in one direction – him walking out through the exit door this summer.
The club are likely to stand by the manager’s decision and look for a market to offload the Colombia international.

He is one of our talented players and has the capability of winning games single-handedly.
However, Benitez is here to build a team for the present as well as the future and probably does not see the Colombian staying at the club for the longer term.
As things stand, he’s still training with the team and is preparing for the season, but whether or not he’s sold remains to be seen.
We hope that Benitez takes some more time to assess the player as he could come good under the Spaniard this coming season.
