Everton could sign Matthew Hoppe from Schalke for £5m
Schalke’s financial predicament could see them sell Everton-linked striker Matthew Hoppe for only £5million this summer, per 90Min.
The report states that as many as 11 Premier League clubs are keeping an eye on the 20-year-old USMNT striker.
Recently, US journalist for The Octagon Grant Wahl reported on Everton’s interest in the youngster who was impressing at the Gold Cup.
He wrote, via his personal Twitter account, “Hearing Matthew Hoppe (who’s having a good Gold Cup) is now drawing interest from Arsenal and Everton. It’s looking likely he’ll make a move from Schalke following Gold Cup.”

Hoppe isn’t someone who’s going to be in the first team or even on the fringes of the first-team setup for next season but is one for the future and a player who would be an impressive acquisition by Marcel Brands.
The Schalke striker burst onto the scene last season when he became the first American ever to bag a hat-trick in the Bundesliga.
Despite his side’s eventual relegation, he happened to be one of the few bright sparks in what was an extremely dull campaign for Die Knappen.
There are reported links from Italy, France, Germany and Spain, but England seems to be the most viable destination for him this summer which is understandable as the Premier League will not have a language barrier and he could fit right in.
Given the recent reports, there’s understood to be a huge market for the striker and we are to sign him, we’ve got to act quickly and make our move as soon as possible.
He may be best suited to a loan move away from Goodison Park once he joins, but getting him to Merseyside ahead of the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and Manchester City is going to be extremely difficult.
