Everton must sell players, Fabian Delph at front of queue

Everton are in a position where they will need to sell players in order to make big transfers this month, according to The Athletic.

Fabian Delph is one of those who is likely to be shown the exit doors, as the Toffees are ready to listen to offers.

The midfielder was left furious after suggestions he had been suspending pending investigation, something that was deemed to be not true.

Rafa Benitez included Delph in his opening couple of pre-season games in England, with his options limited.

After numerous signings, the midfielder was left at home as the rest of the squad travelled to the USA for two friendlies.

It was described as a precaution due to close contact with someone testing positive for COVID-19.

Delph is reportedly one of the highest earners at the club on £100,000-a-week, and any chance of a new deal is “highly unlikely.”

Needed.

This is the best move for all parties.

Everton need the money, and Delph will want to be playing more regularly as he comes to the end of his career in the Premier League.

On £100,000-a-week, the Toffees are not getting the player they clearly hoped for, with no consistency in his fitness or performances.

Delph has failed to string together more than 20 league appearances in his past two seasons, and that is nowhere near good enough.

Benitez needs reinforcements, that is clear, so the likes of Delph look likely to join Bernard and others who have already sealed their exits.
