Yannick Bolasie blown away with Lewis Dobbin heroics for Everton

Lewis Dobbin is scoring goals for fun for Everton youth team and Rafa Benitez has taken note, inviting him to play a practice match against Accrington Stanley.

While the 18-year-old did not make the squad for the tour of the USA, he has continued to shine for David Unsworth side, bagging 10 goals in five games so far in pre-season.

Dobbin netted another hat-trick in the 3-1 victory over Chorley under-23s on Tuesday, and Yannick Bolasie and his youth teammate Thierry Small have been impressed with his heroics in front of goal, sending him these messages on Instagram.

One to keep an eye on

Dobbin would be hoping to establish himself in the under-23s in the new season, and three hat-tricks in the past few days have done him some good.

The Everton sensation scored thrice in both of the games against Warrington Rylands and Guiseley earlier in pre-season, and not many will bet against him repeating the feat versus Southport in their final pre-season match of the summer on Saturday.

Friendly games do not mean a lot, but we have a feeling Benitez would have developed a keen interest in the teenager tearing opponents apart.

The Spaniard has the wantaway Moise Kean and Dominic Calvert-Lewin as his striking options for the first-team, but Dobbin could be getting opportunities next season if he continues impressing for the Toffees youth team.

Unsworth’s side get their campaign underway on August 16 with a trip to Blackburn Rovers and the young striker would be eyeing a brilliant season in front of goal.

It has been a while since an academy graduate has established himself as a regular in the first-team, and while it is still early days, we fancy Dobbin’s chances of doing that sooner or latter.
