Everton are on the cusp of signing Sporting CP midfielder Matheus Nunes, claims Portuguese commentator Fernando Mendes.
Speaking live on channel CMTV, as relayed by media outlet Record, the former Sporting player said that the 22-year-old is on his way to Merseyside to join Rafa Benitez’s men this summer.
A Bola reported last month that the two clubs would announce the agreement of the player understood to be in the region of £15million with a further £1.5million in add-ons.

However, that announcement has not happened, but by the looks of things, it should be happening soon, if we are to take what Mendes has said at face value.
Toffees fans are certainly excited about the Portuguese midfielder’s arrival and took to Facebook to share their thoughts.
Here’s what they said:

Agreed
Nunes is a solid and versatile midfielder who would be an ideal signing for us.
Paying only £15million for a 22-year-old with such a high ceiling is a bargain as he will only get better and thrive in the English conditions.
We’re hoping that Benitez quickly makes signings of this calibre as our patience is running thin with nearly a week left for the new season to begin and none of our new signings strengthen our playing eleven.
The 22-year-old walks into our midfield and offers much needed balance to it as under Carlo Ancelotti we had a very immobile midfield that didn’t provide too many goals and assists.
That will certainly change should Nunes walk through the door.
