Everton starlet Lewis Dobbin tipped to make breakthrough this season

Everton starlet Lewis Dobbin has been selected by The Athletic’s Greg O’Keeffe as the club’s most likely breakthrough star for the 2021/22 season.

The 18-year-old forward has been given the opportunity to train with the first team and is reportedly “determined” to stay in Rafael Benitez’s mind.

He has done an excellent job of that so far by bagging three hat-tricks for the club’s Under-23s in pre-season already and is described as “fast” and “two-footed”.

Will Dobbin make the breakthrough?

As well as appearing for the Under-23s in pre-season, the 18-year-old forward has also appeared for the first team against Manchester United.

Now, it is unclear if this was just because Benitez didn’t have Dominic Calvert-Lewin available or if it is because the Spaniard genuinely rates Dobbin.

We might find that out as the season progresses; however, he is clearly doing all he can to force his way into the first team, and it would be exciting to see him feature at least a few times this year.

The 18-year-old has been tipped to be a “top player” by David Unsworth and could have a huge future ahead of him, and we are sure that Everton fans would love to see a quick forward with a clear eye for goal in the first team [Liverpool Echo].

There is potentially a very special talent here, and it would be fantastic to see Benitez nurture that and give Dobbin some game time this season.

In other Everton news, the club are looking very closely at one Premier League midfielder.
