Everton fail with loan-to-buy bid to sign Denzel Dumfries, Inter Milan deal close
Everton look set to miss out on signing PSV right-back Denzel Dumfries after an unsuccessful bid to sign him on a loan-to-buy deal, according to Express journalist Ryan Taylor.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Tuesday, Taylor reports that Dumfries, 25, has “never been fully sold on joining the Toffees” despite the Merseyside club’s pursuit.
Taylor also relays a story by Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Alfredo Pedulla, which claims that Inter Milan are pushing forward with a permanent move for the Netherlands international.
Cross him off the list
Marcel Brands can now forget about striking a deal with his former club PSV because it does not look as though Dumfries is coming.
It’s such a massive shame too.
Rafa Benitez’s squad is in need of a new right-back who can not only add an extra body in that area but also serve as a long-term replacement for Seamus Coleman.
Dumfries lit up Euro 2020 with his performances for the Netherlands as he scored goals in back-to-back group stage fixtures.

He also impressed massively for PSV last season as he shone in the right wing-back role, scoring four goals and supplying nine assists in 41 total appearances.
Everton’s summer has been a frustrating one that has been hindered by Financial Fair Play rules and the protracted search for Carlo Ancelotti’s successor.
If we go into the new season with Demarai Gray, Andros Townsend and Asmir Begovic as our only new signings, there are going to be a lot of disgruntled fans.
However, this is what Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright get for throwing money at their issues rather than going for a more pragmatic approach.
In other Everton news, the Blues are eyeing a deal to sign this South American ace who wants to quit his cash-strapped club.
