Everton Super Fans don’t want to sign Sean Longstaff

This is part of a regular series from our panel of Everton Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our Goodison News Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Goodison Park.

Everton Super Fans have flocked to a post on Goodison News’ Facebook page about the Toffees’ interest in Sean Longstaff, and it is clear that they don’t want to see their club sign him.

A report from The Athletic about Joe Willock going to Newcastle United mentioned the Toffees as a potential destination for the 23-year-old central midfielder who was handed his big break by Rafael Benitez.

However, it is clear that our Super Fans don’t want to see Longstaff at Goodison Park.

Longstaff was heavily linked with Manchester United in 2019, but he has really struggled on Tyneside since then [Sky Sports].

Last season he only made 27 appearances for the Toon, and he only has one year left on his contract, so it is possible that Newcastle would look to move him on this summer.

Benitez was a huge fan of Longstaff and believed that he was more mobile than Michael Carrick and had similar characteristics to the former England midfielder [the Guardian].

However, it is very clear that our Super Fans are not keen on seeing Longstaff at Goodison Park, and if the Toffees were to make that move, we can’t see it going down too well with many Evertonians.

The 23-year-old clearly has talent, but he has lost his way, and it probably isn’t worth the risk for the Toffees to sign him.

In other Everton news, the Toffees had a bid rejected for one of their top targets.
