James Rodriguez touches on Everton future in live Twitch broadcast

Everton playmaker James Rodriguez has been discussing his future on his Twitch account as exit speculation continues to swirl.

The Liverpool Echo reported last month that the Blues had informed the Colombian that he is free to leave Goodison Park this summer, while the Daily Mail claimed last week that his agent Jorge Mendes had offered his client’s services to Atletico Madrid and Napoli.

In a Monday night broadcast via his verified Twitch account, the 30-year-old has stressed that he is in good spirits, but says he is in the dark over his next steps.

As translated by El Tiempo, he said: “I am feeling good. I feel in conditions to be able to compete either here or in another place, we still do not know. I am focused on being better every day.”

On Saturday’s dismal 4-0 defeat to Manchester United, he added: “Thank goodness it was only a friendly match. I don’t like to lose.”

Biting his lip

It’s the right thing for the Colombia star to say – by all accounts, he is looking forward to the start of the official season, and was irked by Saturday’s hammering at Old Trafford.

Hopefully, that will help inspire him and his teammates to right their wrongs against Southampton and produce a winning performance against Southampton in our Premier League.

But, if reports are correct that he has been told he can leave, he can’t be blamed for wanting to move on.

Of course, there have been whispers for some months that he and his agent have been angling for moves to Italy or Spain, so it is hard to know who is more set on his exit this summer.

At this stage of the summer, most Everton fans are probably leaning on the side of wanting to keep him on Merseyside, at least for the season ahead.

With three weeks left until transfer deadline day, can we afford to be letting him go now?

We need a couple more attackers as it is, and that’s without letting one with his talents go.

In other Everton news, the Blues want to sign this 2020/21 European title winner who was at Real Madrid under Rafa Benitez.
