Everton no longer in race to sign Denzel Dumfries
Everton are out of the race to sign Denzel Dumfries as Inter Milan close in on his signature, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Sky Sports Italy journalist stated that Inter have agreed personal terms with the 25-year-old and a verbal agreement with PSV.
According to TV Dello Sport journalist Alfredo Pedulla, they will pay £10.5million to PSV to sign the 23-cap Dutch international along with an additional £1.7million in add-ons.
Via his personal Twitter account, Romano wrote, “Denzel Dumfries is set to join Inter from PSV Eindhoven, verbal agreement reached between clubs and here-we-go.
“Personal terms agreed too. Inter are planning for medical in the next few days in order to complete the move. Everton are out of the race.”
Expected
We always seemed like the second favourites in the race to sign Dumfries and now we have been eliminated from it with Inter set to sign the 25-year-old.
He would’ve been the ideal fit for us not just in the short term but also for the next five to seven years.
Seamus Coleman is ageing and we desperately need someone younger and technically better to replace him or slowly ease him out of the first team.

Dumfries fit the bill perfectly, but it was difficult signing him as Inter received a huge windfall from their sale of Achraf Hakimi to Paris St. Germain.
Hopefully, our quest to sign another right-back does not end here as we’ve still got three weeks left in the transfer market and it’s ample time for Rafa Benitez and Marcel Brands to find somebody good enough.
Our signings thus far have been underwhelming and if Benitez is to be given a proper chance to prove himself then he must be backed by the board in the transfer market.
