Everton interest in Matthew Hoppe confirmed by sources close to attacker
A source close to Schalke striker Matthew Hoppe has confirmed that Everton are among a host of Premier League clubs who want to sign him, according to Larry Henry Jr.
The Toffees have been in the mix for the 20-year-old American, and now Newcastle United and Brentford are also keen on signing him.
Henry Jr, who is an editor at SBI Soccer and was formerly with Sports Illustrated, has been a reliable source for updates on players in the MLS.

Via his personal Twitter account, he wrote: “Everton are indeed among many clubs in the mix for USMNT forward Matthew Hoppe, a source close to the player confirmed.
“Newcastle United and Brentford are also interested in a deal.
“More to come I’m sure.”
Get this one done
At 20, Hoppe is not going to walk into our starting XI, but he will certainly add depth to our squad and could challenge for a first-team berth in a couple of years.
90Min reported that he’s likely to be available for £5million this summer which is very good money for someone with such a high ceiling.

Schalke’s tricky financial situation after their Bundesliga relegation last season could see them cash in on a few of their assets and there’s a good chance that Hoppe could be one of the players they part ways with this summer.
He became the first American to score a Bundesliga hat-trick when he achieved that feat last season and is certainly ready to take the step up.
We could sign him this summer and possibly loan him out to a Championship club or an overseas side so that he gets regular first-team minutes in a division better than the second-tier in Germany.
