Richarlison likely to miss two PL games after new FIFA rules

Everton could be without Richarlison for two Premier League games as he is named in Brazil’s squad for the World Cup qualifiers.

According to The Liverpool Echo, FIFA have changed their ruling which previously stated that there must be a mandatory period of quarantine or self-isolation for at least five days for players after international games.

However, now that the ruling no longer exists, Richarlison may have to comply with the guidelines of the UK government, and quarantine for 10 days as he would be coming from Brazil which is on the red list.

Ridiculous

It’s a shame that despite us being over a year into the pandemic that players are still facing the brunt of quarantining and missing out on vital Premier League games.

The rule of exempting players from going out on international duty had also been reversed this year, meaning the club do not have a say in this matter.

It would be a huge blow if we are without the Brazilian for the games against Burnley and Aston Villa.

Everton

Against Southampton, he was one of our main goal-scoring threats and enjoyed a phenomenal start to the new Premier League season.

He was also labelled “Excellent” by Alan Shearer for his performance. [Match of the Day]

We’re waiting to see if any exemptions can be applied, but as things stand, he’s in line to miss these two games.

Hopefully, we sign an attacker before the window ends so even if Richarlison is to miss out, there will be someone good enough to replace him.
