Everton goalkeeper Joao Virginia set to join Sporting CP in £3m loan-to-buy
Everton goalkeeper Joao Virginia is set to join Sporting CP on a season-long loan, according to Record.
The Portuguese newspaper reported via their print edition on August 17 [page 10] that Sporting will have the option to sign the former Benfica goalkeeper, 21, for £3million next summer.
It is understood that the final steps of the deal are being finalised and on Thursday, Virginia will jet into Portugual to undergo a medical with his bags already packed for the move.

Good deal
If Everton are going to be getting a few million for a player who’s only played a few times for them, then that’s a good deal.
Of course, Virginia is a young goalkeeper and still has a lot of developing to do before he meets his potential. And while we may come to regret selling him on the cheap if he does eventually come good at Sporting CP, it’s not something we’re going to lose sleep over in the short term.

Everton need to raise funds in order to sign new players due to the way the club has splashed the cash on new signings in recent years.
We’ve thrown money at our problems without any improvement whatsoever and now we’re paying for it.
We wish Virginia the best of luck in Lisbon if he does eventually make the move to Sporting but ultimately, we need the money.
And annoyingly, we need the money this summer – not next summer.
It seems as though Sporting have the option to sign Virginia so this isn’t a guaranteed £3million sale.
It’s annoying the club will agree to this when we need the money now and not next year.
In a year’s time, the club will probably be on the hunt for a new manager again because you know what Farhad Moshiri is like by now.
In other Everton news, the Blues are worried about this big-money player after a major transfer development.
