James Rodriguez could leave Everton to join Atletico Madrid

James Rodriguez could leave Everton to join Atletico Madrid before the end of the summer transfer window, according to WinSportsTV journalist Pipe Sierra.

However, a move would depend on whether Saul Niguez gets sold this summer, with Liverpool one of the clubs keen on the Spanish international midfielder.

The Colombian journalist, followed by the likes of Alan Myers and Paul Joyce on Twitter posted the information about the 30-year-old on his personal account.

He tweeted: “James Rodriguez at Atletico Madrid? It depends on the possible sale of Saul Niguez (26) who wants to leave and is linked to Liverpool, Man City and Man Utd.

“The Colombian has been close to the ‘Colchoneros’ for two years. It is a real possibility, but still a long way off.”

Exit still on?

Rodriguez wants to leave Goodison Park as manager Rafa Benitez is clearly not a fan, but he has just two weeks left to get his move.

We all know both of them did not get along at Real Madrid, and it appears that will not change on Merseyside.

The midfielder only joined us because of Carlo Ancelotti and has made it constantly clear on social media in recent weeks that his future at Everton is in huge doubt.

Could Liverpool do us a favour then?

Atletico will not be moving for him with Niguez still in their ranks, but it is unclear whether the Reds are looking to sign a midfielder this summer despite losing Georginio Wijnaldum.

Everton need to move on one of their highest earners to balance the books, and the La Liga winners are one of the teams that can meet his demands.

We are possibly open to letting him go for nothing, but suitors have to be able to agree to pay his huge wages before a deal can be done.

With Benitez not a fan, we need to get rid of Rodriguez as it could help us make another major signing, but time is slowly running out to get a move secured for him and the Toffees must act fast.
