Everton-linked Matthew Hoppe valued at £7m

Everton can reportedly sign Schalke forward Matthew Hoppe for a bargain this summer given the German club’s financial situation.

According to German media outlet BILD, the Toffees are one of several clubs keen on signing the American this summer.

While Schalke value the 20-year-old, who is one of their prized assets, at around £7million, it’s understood that a fee of £4million (Transfermarkt valuation) would still be viewed as good business, per the report.

BILD reports that if cash-strapped Schalke get the £7million they want, it may mean agreeing a deal that makes use of bonuses.

Must take advantage

Players with high potential tend to go for crazy transfer fees in today’s day and age so signing a player like Hoppe for a discounted fee would be great value for money.

He burst onto the scene last season in the Bundesliga and become the first American to score a hat-trick in the German first division.

Hoppe may not be well known to the casual fan outside Germany, but is highly rated by avid watchers of the Bundesliga.

There is understood to be a huge market for the player and we will have to move fast if we are to secure his services this summer.

Ajax, PSV Eindhoven and AZ Alkmaar are three of a number clubs keen on signing the 20-year-old and they’re certainly going to be on high alert given that the German side could be willing to accept a lower transfer fee.
