Everton table £31million bid for Lazio forward Joaquin Correa

Everton have tabled a £31million bid for Lazio forward Joaquin Correa, according to La Lazio Siamo Noi.

The Toffees are offering £27.5million upfront for the services of the Argentina international, with £3.5million in bonuses, and both clubs are not far from an agreement, with Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito hoping Everton can make the extra effort to help his side land the bonuses.

However, the Goodison Park outfit need to convince Correa, 27, about accepting a move as he is keen on joining a big side, and they are ready to offer him wages of £4.8million per season.

Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the South American winger.

Huge bid

Offering the Argentine around £100,000 a week is not particularly huge, but we have to admit that tabling £31million for his services is massive.

In a bid to adhere to Financial Fair Play, Everton need to get some of their high earners out before getting new additions that will cost that much in, and the club must be confident of their chances of moving on the likes of James Rodriguez if a bid for Correa is being readied.

The versatile attacking midfielder bagged 11 goals and assisted five others across the Serie A and Champions League last term, and definitely has everything it takes to improve our squad in the final third.

Getting him to agree to a move is going to be very tricky, though.

He surely wants to continue playing in Europe’s elite competition and we are not even able to offer the Europa Conference League.

Should Everton and Lazio strike an agreement, we could still struggle to get this deal done as the player most likely has the final say in all of these.
