Harry Winks likely to stay at Tottenham Hotspur amid Fabrizio Romano’s Everton claim
Tottenham Hotspur have not signalled any intentions to let Harry Winks leave amid Everton speculation, according to ESPN.
Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reported last week on The Last Word YouTube that Everton are interested in the 25-year-old midfielder.
However, ESPN journalist James Olley says “sources have told ESPN” that Spurs have “not expressed a desire” to offload the 10-cap England international who is keen to fight for his place in north London.

Relief
Winks was certainly a name that caused some consternation among Everton fans when Romano’s claim came to light.
He had a decent season or so under Mauricio Pochettino a few years ago and performed admirably against Spain’s midfield in a 3-2 England win in 2018, but he has failed to build on that progress in recent years and was phased out of the Spurs starting XI last season.
The midfielder made just 15 Premier League appearances and a Spurs exit appeared an inevitability.
But Nuno Espirito Santo has taken charge and looks to be content to keep him around, most likely as a squad player.
That’s most likely what he would have been at Everton anyway for.

If he did start, we would have an extremely uninspiring midfield trio of Winks, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure. That doesn’t exactly scream creativity.
As it is, a move appears unlikely now so there is little to worry about on the Winks front.
That’s not to say we don’t need a midfielder – we do – but something with a bit more flair or dynamism would be ideal.
