Everton have rejected a £1.5million offer for 17-year-old defender Thierry Small amid his current contract impasse, according to The Secret Scout.

They are followed by the likes of David Ornstein [The Athletic], Paul Joyce [The Times] on their Twitter account, which is where they have broken the news regarding Small on Saturday evening [21/08/21].

They wrote: “Everton have turned down £1.5 million for 16 [17]-year-old Thierry Small.
“The club are asking for £3million. It is now going to tribunal because no fee can be agreed.”
Insulting offer
Small is widely regarded as one of the most exciting talents in English football so £3million does not sound like an unreasonable request at all.
His Blues contract may have expired and he has reportedly rejected the chance to sign a professional contract with the club, citing a desire to break into the first team elsewhere after deeming his path at Goodison Park to be blocked by fellow left-backs Lucas Digne and Niels Nkounkou.
However, under rules relating to players under the age of 24, Everton are still to receive money for his development in the academy.
Of course, it’s hard to blame rival clubs for trying to get him on the cheap when he is not technically contracted to Everton, but we would still expect a better bid than that.
It’s not detailed which club has tabled the offer, but the likes of Aston Villa and Southampton have been credited with an interest in the teenager previously.
